Story Box Library to launch Indigenous Storytime during NAIDOC Week

Story Box Library (SBL) will launch their inaugural Story Box Library presents Indigenous Storytime release on Monday 9 July to coincide with NAIDOC Week 2018, to be held from Sunday 8 July - Sunday 15 July.

The first story will be In Your Dreams, written by Sally Morgan, illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft and read for Story Box Library by Ellen van Neerven, a writer of Mununjali Yugambeh and Dutch heritage (pictured).

‘In Your Dreams is the perfect fit for the NAIDOC 2018 theme, Because of Her, We Can!,’ explains Amy Kaldor-Bull, SBL’s Public Libraries Liaison Manager.

‘It celebrates the importance of following your dreams and the significant role women (in this case a grandmother) plays in the life of her young granddaughter which ties in so nicely.’

Story Box Library presents Indigenous Storytime is a project that will add 20 Australian children’s picture books written, illustrated and read by Indigenous Australians to SBL between July 2018 - July 2019. The project is supported by the Australian Council for the Arts.
