ELECTRONIC RESOURCES
James Bennett offers a wide range of electronic resources from various publishers throughout the world that are suitable for our library customers.
Please see below for a listing and details of Electronic Resources currently available through James Bennett.
The majority of eBooks are integrated into James Bennett’s usual order workflows and are searchable through James Bennett Online (JBO). This streamlines the acquisition of eBooks for our library customers as they can search, browse and purchase eBook titles along with their print books and other multimedia items. A number of Electronic Resources are also available as a Standing Order (not currently available through JBO).
James Bennett Support Services and Access
Should a library enquire about or purchase an online product through James Bennett, we will provide general information about access, technical requirements and licensing. Depending on the vendor, on enquiry we may be able to provide the library with a sample copy of any agreement or conditions of purchase. We are also able to set up trial access to various electronic resources for specified periods of time.
James Bennett acts as a sales agent only for online products and the vendor of the product provides post sales support. Licences and/or agreements for online services are negotiated directly with the vendor, with James Bennett acting as a facilitator where applicable.
The exception to this is James Bennett’s product “Etitle”, which is developed and managed in-house by James Bennett. Etitle is a firm sale service, with titles made available for an access period of three years. The three year period is determined by the publishers who own and contribute their content to Etitle.
Pricing of electronic resources such as eBooks, online databases and online reference vary from product to product. Title pricing is set by publishers and varies based upon content much like print.
Pricing options can vary and can include:
- Unlimited Access - based on number of FTE at the institution
- Purchased by user - based on concurrent users
- Multiple simultaneous user access and remote access.
- Price per title, plus annual hosting fees
- Annual subscription or Upfront payment options
